5Kate Siegel, Hush

Had to mention Kate Siegel from Hush (2016) who plays Maddie, a deaf writer who gets preyed upon in the middle of the woods by a masked killer. Funny bit of trivia for you, she’s the wife of the Director of Hush. Watch out for her in Ouija: Origin of Evil.

4Maika Monroe, It Follows

Most of you will know this strong independent female from It Follows but she was equally badass in The Guest. Essentially, she made the list because she was able to deal with the It Follows monster in a calm and collected fashion (and having lots of sex?). She has stated her favorite horror films include The Shining (1980), Halloween (1978) and A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984).

3Jodie Foster, Silence of the Lambs

Hello Clarice. She had to make the list because of her performance in this Oscar winning classic, Silence of the Lambs. Such a memorable horror film thanks to this badass and charming southern accent, even Jodie herself commends it and has stated in Inside Story: The Silence of the Lambs (2010) that this is her favourite movie of her own.

2Shauna Macdonald, The Descent

The Descent, an absolute classic and our list would be nothing without protagonist, Sarah (Shauna Macdonald). A bit shaky from her traumatic loss, this doe-eyed badass proved us, and all cave dwelling creatures, horribly wrong by using an ice axe to survive and diving into pools of blood.

1Danai Gurira, The Walking Dead

You must’ve been expecting this one. Michonne from The Walking Dead is such a bad ass that she didn’t even have to utter a single word in the first few seasons of the series, her katana and two zombie pets did all the talking for her. Also, she will be coming to your screens in 2018, starring in Marvel’s Black Panther.
