... is cut to the town and all hell breaks loose. The film moves pretty fast after sunset. We find out the vampires sent the creepy homeless man to set up the town for their arrival. After a town bloodbath we're left with only a handful of survivors including Eben and Stella.
The vampires have a very scary leader who communicate with his followers in a strange garbled language and some shrieking. The vampires spend most of their time covered in blood, but not because they're just eating people but because they wear their stains like badges of honor or fashion accessories.
Toward the end of the of the 30 days, Eben makes a discovery. It's possible to be turned into a vampire through the contact with their blood, like a virus. He makes a hero's decision to inject himself with infected blood and take on the leader to save the remaining human inhabitants of Barrow.
For the most part I really liked the direction the film goes in. However, I'm a huge gore fan and it seems in many scenes, especially at the beginning, that the filmmakers shake and rattle the camera a lot to hide some of the films violence. Boo. That ever popular unsteady camera effect is really annoying. Maybe an unrated DVD release will happen. With that being said I would still recommend "30 Days" to any horror fan, and DO see it before it's out of the theatres. Scares are so much better on the big screen.
