... safest place is the mall they can see just across the parking lot from the fence they're behind. They make a run for it and break in.

Once inside the mall, they find it's already been occupied by three very delusional rent-a-cops...CJ (Michael Kelly) the burly leader, Bart (Michael Berry) the idiot, and Terry (Kevin Zegers) the nice cute one. These security left-overs quickly turn the mall into a police state claiming it's their turf.

After the overthrow of CJ's short lived rule on Mall-topia we get a truckload of new survivors with lots of new problems. The biggest being two of them have been bitten, one closer to death than the other. The gang realizes that after death people change almost instantly into flesh eaters and can't take any chances and they are forced to shoot one of their own right after he passes.

What follows is a long wait to see what happens to the world and if our survivors will be trapped inside this Mall forever. They plan an escape, thanks to a hair brained idea about sailing away to an island if only they can make it to the marina and take one of the boats. They escape the mall but not all survive, and some sail off into the sunset...kinda. You have to watch the credits to witness the fate of the peeps on the S.S. Minnow.

I wanna tell you everything about this film, but I would just end up giving away all the shocks and scares. One of the biggest sells, aside from the fantastic gore, is the radtastic ensemble cast of survivors; they're one of the best collections of assholes and heroes on screen. The rewrite of George Romero's 1978 screenplay by James Gunn is absolutely spot on. And from the directors stand point they don't shy away or shake the camera in scenes of intense violence and blood, which really makes the film stand out as a very frightening visual tale. It's an awesome people eating extravaganza that I highly recommend that you not just rent but add to your collection. Yeah, yeah I said that at the beginning, but go out and do it already before I eat your brains.
