... strongest. These stares usually follow his more self reflecting scenes while Holden is looking at himself in the mirror, where he can also imagine his murders, and even his own suicide. Kind of creepy, and it certainly adds to the mystery of what will become of Holden in the end.
Burchette's performance also isn't the only thing that tends to raise the bar as the film progresses. Director, Travis Miller, too shows more and more promise as the film comes to a close. It makes for a film that actually feels a little disjointed when looked at as a whole, because its as if the actors and production crew were "just warming up" throughout the first 5-20 minutes of shooting. The remaining segments of the film, although not without their mishaps, are rewarding enough to see through to the films climatic ending. Just gotta give this one some time!
This doesn't necessary mean that the project is flawless throughout its middle/ending sections either, as previously stated, because for as many times that Miller's and Burchette's attributes are dead on, there are just as many times when everything seems to completely fall apart. Some of the deaths are filmed terribly and should have been edited down from day one in the production booth. Example: In the end, where Sadie (the crush) is strangled with a plastic bag. Our main actress seems to scream in hilarity, not in total fright, which the film would like to have you believe. Cameron Wrights performance as Sadie is ungodly terrible and she only brings down the scenes where everything else seems to be falling into place. Possibly, with a few more quick edits on Travis's behalf, the closing scenes, because of Wrights performance, wouldn't have been so...well...scary!
The Blood, while there, is the blood of a film with a budget of about two grand. When I say "Indy film", I mean, we filmed this over at our friends house, broke open our piggy banks, and asked anyone if they were willing to show their nipples; it's THAT kind of Indy film! Enjoyable as it is, still, Bloodstained Romance is not something you'll want to throw in your player again and again.
