... enough, but director Michael Haneke knows how to keep us on the edge of our seats. Haneke, who also directed the original film in 1997 created the new "Funny Games" as a shot by shot remake including the use of original blue prints to keep the set as close to the original as possible.

"Funny Games" has no score. The absolute silence during some of the scenes is agonizing but brings to the life the true horror of home invasion. In the last few weeks the new film "The Strangers" has been compared to "Funny Games", but from where I stand "Funny Games" is the stronger of the two movies. A definite double feature. You be the judge. I had a better time with "Funny Games" because it has no real gimmick. No masks, no trendy soundtrack. I'm not saying those things are all bad, they have their place. But it's refreshing to see a film that gives us the killers at face value.
