... our first film Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts) tried to destroy the evil tape to no avail. Instead she and her son Aiden (David Dorfman) make copies of the tape and hope that no one will find the copies. Well, the tape is back and created quite an underground following. Rachel who has packed up and moved to a new city just wants to be rid of Samara and her curse but has no choice but to battle the ghost once again. The twist to the sequel is that Rachel has to find out more of Samara's past and find out what she wants to free her son from the ghost's possession.

The fun thing about the sequel is that there are some great actors in some of the roles. Sissy Spacek plays Sumara's mother in an insane asylum and Elizabeth Perkins is a friendly but forward psychiatrist. This movie really is just more of the same. It's safe to say that it's a better bet to just watch the first film a second time. The plot is sturdy and interesting, where as number 2 is, well, just that...number 2.
