House on Haunted Hill (1999)

... Marr (Brigette Wilson). All of the guest have been hurried onto the grounds by it's current reluctant owner Watson Pritchett (Chris Kattan). After an uncomfortable introduction of strangers Evelyn is almost killed by a collapsing glass collage and the eerie old asylum goes into lock down insuring that no one can leave for the night. Our characters are left to fend for themselves hoping to survive the night and figuring out if this is all a twisted game of death or is the house on the hill really haunted.

I know it's a cheesy premise, but I really love the energy of this film. The script has a great tempo and all of the performances are really fun...especially Geoffrey Rush an Famke Janssen. I highly recommend this creepy romp to anyone that has or has not seen the original. The stories are similar, but believe it or not I watched the original just recently and although you can see the strings on the flying skeletons you'd be surprised at how well some of the films scares hold up to the test of time.
