| Last House on Dead End Street | The New York Ripper | The Toolbox Murders | The Abominable Dr. Phibes |
continued...
... (Nathan Fillion) is looking for the missing Brenda and Starla discovers a nest of dead dogs that Grant has been keeping locked up in the basement. Ewww. Grant who has started to deform into a sort of squid man and attacks Starla, Bill saves her just in time and Grant runs off into the night. The search for Brenda continues, they find her when they follow Squid Grant into the woods. Brenda is being kept in a barn where she has become so pregnant with Squid Grant's babies that she's taking up the whole barn. Brenda explodes and the slug babies shoot everywhere by what looks like the billions. The slugs take out a few of the cops buy jumping into their mouths and taking control of their bodies. The plot is very similar to "Body Snatcher" in that these slug things have a collective conscience with their main body, Grant. The town becomes overrun by slug controlled citizens and it's up to Starla and Bill to save the world or fall in love, whichever comes first.
It's a plot we've seen a few times before, but comedic tone keeps the plot Ziploc fresh. The effects are so gag inducing you kinda have to look away a few times. Lots of mucous like substances coming out of holes. Ewww. It's cute and funny and gory and romantic. It's got the perfect fixins for a date movie. So make some popcorn, press play and get cozy for a game of hide the slug.
