... get really scary. Jess is being constantly tormented by an entity in the house. The ghost goes so far as to destroy the living room while chasing Jess around the house. Burwell is the only one to witness this and says that he really didn't see anything except Jess running around and screaming. Jess's parents think she's acting out, but the truth is the spirits in the house are trying to warn Jess and her brother about something...but what?

The Messengers has a solid set up and I was almost old on the entire plot. Until I realized it's just another formula drama/thriller with no real meat to its storyline. The set up, as I said, is very clever, but with the introduction of Burwell you suddenly get that there's nothing to get and the movie is just an obvious attempt at putting John Corbin in a horror/thriller. So no, I didn't really enjoy The Messengers. One great thing? Jodelle Furland, the little girl that played Alessa in Silent Hill, she's in it as one or maybe two of the ghostly messengers and she's awesome. How does one learn to be so friggin' scary before you're at least 15?
