Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)

This film seemed to be a really hard sell. Not so much for me, I don't mind musicals. But even though directed by Tim Burton most seemed put off by the Broadway background, so it was really hard to get freinds to come and see it with me. Let me tell you this, it's a gorgeous story and you'll be absolutely astounded by the actual gore.

Even though it's based in a factual case, Sweeney Todd is more of an Urban "London" Legend. A brutal killer barber that slashed the throats of his patrons. Also mixed with this legend is the off colored story of Mrs. Lovett, who used people as meat in her famous Fleet Street Pies. These two characters are a perfect match as one kills and one bakes.

Benjamen Barker (Johnny Depp) has just been released from the prison continent of Australia for a crime he didn't commit and shipped back home after many years. He steps off the boat in hopes of finding his wife and child. To his dismay all he finds is an odd woman who still owns the building he once lived in Mrs. Lovett (Helena Bonham Carter). ...
