After thoroughly enjoying Saw I and its psychological puzzles I decided to give Saw II a shot. A good majority of the time, sequels tend to ruin the movie-going experience for us. However, Saw II succeeded where most have failed. This film is thrilling, even more gruesome, and as unpredictable as the first. While the acting was fair, Director Darren Lynn Bousman, definitely kicked up the blood and gore, and even added some attractive girls to the cast. Jigsaw returns with a vengeance for those who have no regard for their own life.

The story begins with an intense sequence, attributed to one of Jigsaw's complicated and vigorous tests. The victim soon meets his inevitable demise before he is able to face the cold reality of what will be his death. Shortly after this game subsides, detective Eric Matthews (Donnie Wahlberg) arrives at the crime scene to investigate. A note is written in blood on the ceiling telling the detective to "look closer". This clue eventually leads Detective Matthews and his SWAT team to Jigsaw's lair.

The place is filled with death machines, torture devices, maps, blueprints, and mini dioramas of each trap Jigsaw creates and tests. I have to admit, it was pretty awesome! As the team enters, traps are set and blood spills. This is just the beginning of what lay ahead for Detective Eric Matthews.

Moments later, Matthews is standing face to face with Jigsaw. We see the mastermind hooked up to an IV drip while grasping onto life by breathing machines, he is a very sick ...
