Finally, a horror film that kept me on my feet! From the demented mind of James Wan, comes Saw, a psychological thriller guaranteed to make you squirm, toss and turn, and keep you guessing until the end. This film has a gifted way of making its victims think. The sick killer, classified as Jigsaw, plays games with his victims until they eventually and mostly inevitably kill themselves. The story and plot relies on mind-bending games each with a specific purpose. Each teaches a lesson in which the victims will need to live by (or die trying). While the acting is not the best I have ever seen, it's definitely not the worst. There is a ton of bloodshed and lots of (interesting) torture scenes. When you mix a brilliant script with a twisted director you get something like Saw.

The film starts out in a dirty, dilapidated bathroom. You can almost smell the diarrhea through your HDTV. It's murky, daunting, and uneasily quiet. The sequence begins with the two main characters tied up, shackled to steel pipes along the decaying bathroom floor. The two men Adam and Dr. Lawrence seem unfamiliar to each other, but later on they will realize they have a common bond.

The two victims must figure why they are chained up and how to escape before time runs out. As they begin their search for answers, they learn and acquire bits and pieces of information in order to help in their escape. The two are given a saw which they believe is to cut through steal and chains, they are sadly mistaken. Each task during the film is the beginning of a superior and far more creative game. The two must strategize and work together (or against each other) in order to beat Jigsaw's sickly twisted game.
