This movie was so surrounded by hype that I couldn't bring myself to see it. I know what a snob. But I can't help it. If you really want me to see a movie? Don't tell me "It's Sooooo good!" or "I know you'll love it, I thought of you while I was watching it!" It's like a reflex to not see the film. What a jerk I am.

With that being said....Hostel is Soooooooo good! I know you'll love it!!!! So, yes I agree sometimes films have lots of hype because they ARE worth seeing. I was in love with Hostel from the very beginning. I knew all of the set up. And I was Soooo ready to see our 2 American assholes and the weird Icelandic guy get tortured and cut up. From the very beginning you just wanna slap all three of them around. I must say I feel more horror movies need leads that you wanna see killed. That's right, less sympathy for the victims. Let's be honest, we paid money to see them hacked up, so why so much guilt when it actually happens? Thank you Eli Roth.

So our set up is this, 3 moderately attractive youngish men are "backpacking" through Europe. 2 are American, Josh (Derek Richardson) and Paxton (Jay Hernandez), also a very hyperactive Icelandic guy, Oli (Eythor Gudjonsson). We start off in Amsterdam where the boys party hard, get high, drunk, fuck prostitutes, and show up after curfew to their Hostel. Locked out, they befriend a new guy with a huge mole on his upper lip that invites them into his loft. Mole Man tells the guys he knows where they can get all the pussy they want in Slovakia.
