The mannequin is not often used in horror films: however, by and large they are usually very creepy. "Tourist Trap" takes the slasher genre and adds mannequins to the mix, making what could have been a rather routine film into a pretty good film.
The film follows the basic slasher premise: two couples and one extra girl go to a vacation spot to have some fun, show some skin, have sex and do some partying. They also bump into a strange ‘museum' where good old boy Chuck Connors is the curator. The museum contains a lot of very creepy mannequins, and also contains a warning issued from Chuck: to avoid Chuck's brother Davey, who is apparently a little disturbed. But then again, what horror film doesn't contain people who would poke around anyway?
The curio factor, and what really makes this film go, is the mannequins and the odd logic that Davey has telekinetic powers (yes, you read that right). Deadly objects fly through the air with the greatest of ease, and with the deadliest of intent. Even worse, the mannequins seem to leer and lurch forward randomly as well. Needless to say, the average, sinful sex crazed, alcohol abusing tourist doesn't have a chance. But there is a fifth female, who doesn't fill the stereo-type of being sex crazed and on drugs...
