A lot of underground buzz surrounds The Signal because of its unique take on a few different genres, but when it boils down to it, at heart, it's just a splatter-fest with a little more brain power. It's also worth acknowledging that, The Signal, for some viewers, will hold its own as a film that has something remarkably intelligent to say about society, and, in addition, displays it's viewpoints in a way that is just as intelligent as these sociological statements. I, on the other hand, am not one of those viewers. The Signal is one of those films that is only as intelligent as you let it become. If you want to look deep enough into the films three different chapters (aka, transmissions), you will, no doubt, find what you are looking for, a twisting piece of mind altering horror. On the other hand, if you want to just sit back and enjoy the gore, comedy, and outstanding performances, you'll walk away actually enjoying the film more so than if you actually tried to untangle, what ends of becoming, a seriously tangled storyline.

Throughout the entire film, you basically have two men who are going after the same girl. All three are equally, but in much different ways, affected by this mysterious signal that we can only guess is, somehow, being broadcasted all over the world. All around them, it's like wrestle mania breaking out in a giant massacre. Lots of angriness!

The film's story is also told through three different perspectives, throughout three different chapters. This division is not extremely necessary and it tends to make the whole project seem more like a cry for how original it can be, than what it should be, an actual film that needs a solid storyline in order to be at all comprehensible for its viewers. So, ...
