The Evil Dead Trilogy is agreed, by most, to be the most accomplished work of horror/cult filmmaking. The three films together tell an extremely humorous, and at often times frightening, tale of the adventures of "the man" himself...Ash! Ash, played by Bruce Campbell, is a horror fans number one superhero. His story is one that is woven together by the likes of Sam Raimi, an excellent visionary (with the exception of a few more recent lousy productions) of modern filmmaking. Army of Darkness is his final installment to a trilogy that has made all of us laugh in hysterics, aggressively cheer for the main characters courageousness, and even once and awhile, find ourselves on the edge of our seats while the suspense is evenly layered throughout and in-between every one of the films many comedic elements.

Army of Darkness operates on even more over the top levels than any of the prior films in the trilogy. In fact, this film tends to feel more like a parody to many different medieval fantasy films than the third installment to a set of cabin dwelling frighteners that fans were so used to in the previous installments. But never fear! Army of Darkness, although much different from the prior films, never disappoints. Its punch lines and zany antics come across as overly silly at times, but never out of place or unsettling. It's a fine blend of parody and original comedy; a slight dash of the tension is even thrown into the mix so that you don't forget The Book of the Dead and its powers of demonic reincarnation. Perfect for any cult enthusiast!
