In a genre where we get a "of the Dead" movie every other month, you kind of need a gimmick to sell your story. Now to my understanding Day of the Dead was supposed to be a remake of the original, which is loosely a part of George Romero's "Dead" series. However the only thing familiar about it was the walking dead, not so much the screenplay. The screenplay was so campy that it seemed more like a remake of Planet Terror than anything else.
A small town in Colorado is being quarantined. No one knows why. Captain Rhodes (Ving Rhames) and soldier Sarah Bowman (Mena Suvari) are in charge of the blockade keeping residents from going anywhere. However the quarantine is taking place in Sarah's hometown, and she decides to take a buddy Bud (Stark Sands) to go find her mother and brother to make sure everything is okay.
