I had not seen the first Boogeyman film, which I don't think really mattered. Everything I had read about the first one was incredibly disappointing. Everything said it was a yawner. So my hopes for the sequel were dim to say the least. However, Boogeyman 2 ended up being a surprise...a fun, gory, familiar surprise.

It's Laura Porter's 7th Birthday. The family has sat down to blow out the candles, open gifts and cut the cake. The issue at hand is that Laura's brother, Henry (who is about a year or two older than his sister), keeps wiggling in his seat because he needs to use the bathroom. A small argument transpires between Henry and his father, turns out Henry is extremely afraid of the dark hallway on the way to the bathroom. He thinks the Boogeyman is waiting for him there. Henry's irrational fear of this fictional monster has disrupted Laura's Birthday. Upstairs Laura plays with the dollhouse she was given as a gift and through its window witnesses...the Boogeyman. In the vision she sees, the Boogeyman stabs her father in the throat and pins him to the wall. She finds her brother, tears in her eyes..."I saw the Boogeyman." The children venture downstairs and find their fathers body. I guess it wasn't a vision after all. Then they find their mother gutted in the bathroom. Both children scream and we skip 10 years into the future.

Laura (Danielle Savre) and Henry (Matt Cohen) have grown up. Henry has overcome his fear of the Boogeyman. The man who killed their parents was never caught. Henry has come to tell his sister that he's ready to go back to school, which is on the other side of the country. Laura ...
