When "The Gift" came out, it received such praise and lots of media attention. I think maybe it was just because of the cast that was assembled. The film itself is more of a yawn fest than anything I've seen on the Lifetime Network.

Anne Wilson (Cate Blanchett) lives an ordinary enough life in the Cajun swamps. She's a single mother who pays the bills by using her natural "gift" of clairvoyance to read peoples cards. We know her ability is real, but she's looked down upon as a muck raker and a fraud by most of the small town she lives in. Trouble gets stirred up when she gives her friend Valerie (Hilary Swank) the advice to leave her husband before he beats her to death. Valerie's husband Donnie (Keanu Reaves) does not take kindly to hearing about this and starts threatening Anne and her children on a regular basis.

Wayne Collins (Greg Kinnear) is a local teacher about to marry the talk of the town, Jessica King (Katie Holmes) but she's gone missing. Wayne and Anne have always been friends and Wayne comes straight to Anne for advice or a vision with the Sherriff and ...
