"Swimming Pool" is a slow burn erotic thriller with a "Twilight Zone" twist. The movie may be a bit slow, but you get sucked in pretty quick. There's plenty of nudity and some lewd behavior. Ahh, the French. Why do Americans give them such a bad rap? I for one LOVE lewd behavior. Pass me the brie and steal my deodorant, I'm moving.
Sarah Morton (Charlotte Rampling) is a mystery writer in a funk. She's stressed by a deadline, lonely and tired of the city. The city being London. The woman is so tightly wound you can almost hear her teeth crashing together when she eats. In my opinion anyone that cannot enjoy food, really needs a vacation or to get laid, most likely both. Her publisher and sometimes lover, John Bosload (Charles Dance), can sense the tension leaking from her pores and suggests a get away at his Villa in the French country. Sarah almost immediately says no when she realizes that it wasn't an invite to go together. Very quickly she changes her mind and figures a sabbatical in the country alone could do her good.
