"Zodiac" is based on the serial murders committed in the 60's and 70's by the self named Zodiac killer that were never really solved in and around San Fransisco. This screenplay's base material was taken from what some seem to think is the quintessential telling by journalist Robert Greysmith.
The story of the Zodiac killer has always frightened me. And the fact that he was never found makes the film all more frightening. David Fincher, the films director (Seven, Fight Club) has a real knack for depicting violence. During my first screening of "Zodiac" I was absolutely prepared to be scared, but there's something intimate and very REAL about the murder scenes that are so unsettling you might have to look away from the screen.
