Well guys, another on the list of horror movies that is officially getting us too excited. That’s a wrap on the remake of IT as Producer, Barbara Muschietti has officially announced with a nice little picture for us on Instagram. Of course, it had to be a clown styled jack-in-the-box to remind us of the very sinister Pennywise, the murderous clown who has been in everyones dreams, or rather, nightmares.
As we all know by now, this is the first part of the anticipated two-part adapation of Stephen King’s novel which was subsequently made into a TV Miniseries in the 90s. The cast currently is as follows:- Finn Wolfhard, Jaeden Lieberher, Sophia Lillis, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Jack Grazer, Chosen Jacobs and Wyatt Oleff as the tweenage ‘Losers Club’ and unfortunately this won’t be coming to us until September 2017. It’s a long wait but we at All Horror Films believe it will be worth it and it’s one of the reasons we put this on our Top 10 Upcoming Scary Movies to Watch list. Check it out and see if you agree with our pics, who knows, there may be a few that you weren’t aware of.
Release date 8th september, 2017
The wait is unfortunately due to Cary Fukunaga, original Director, bailing on the release because of a ‘creative disagreement’, he publicly stated “I was trying to make an unconventional horror film. It didn’t fit into the algorithm of what [the studio] knew they could spend and make money back on based on not offending their standard genre audience. …In the first movie, what I was trying to do was an elevated horror film with actual characters. They didn’t want any characters. They wanted archetypes and scares. I wrote the script. They wanted me to make a much more inoffensive, conventional script. But I don’t think you can do proper Stephen King and make it inoffensive.”
So yeah, September 2017, clear a date in your calendar for this one. OK so it’s taken 27 years (after the TV release) to make it to our screens and this is extremely weird because in the book ‘IT’ returns to Derry approximately every 27 years. That’s the kind of thing that gives you goosebumps. God bless you Stephen King, oh and Happy belated Birthday 🙂 (it was his birthday on 21st September).
