I still think the crucifix scene on the staircase holds up fifteen years later. What's that Jerry? You have to have what?

A decent mid-80's horror film that is, as you noted, one of the few to successfully send up the genre it is working in, whilst simultaneously showing an affection and appreciation for it - other successful examples include An American Werewolf in London and Return of the Living Dead. A self-conscious and knowing film that avoids seeming too smart for its own good...nice to see this fondly remembered.

Oh man, one of my favorites. It's odd seeing Marcy of 'Married with Children' fame as a young hot victim, mind you. This is a great vampire film of the 80s: I never understood the love of a lot of people for crap like 'Lost Boys' when this film and 'Near Dark' were around. Great reference to 'Rear Window':while it's kind of obvious, for some reason I never think about it. Also, I love Roddy McDowell's character. Who here doesn't have a fond remembrance of the local horror host?
