Mad Cowgirl

Seriously? Really? Sometimes I really hate myself for getting suckered into seeing something because it’s an independent film. I really am a huge proponent for anything not created for the mainstream. But at the same time some things shouldn’t be created for the sake of having enough money to waste the film. That’s how I felt after I wasted an hour and a half on “Mad Cowgirl”…an hour and a half I will never have back. Yeah, it made me die inside a little.

Therese (Sarah Lassez) loves meat. She loves meat so much that she’s a meat inspector. He brother Thierry (James Duval) owns a butcher shop and meat processing company…Therese and Thierry are very close….very, very close. When Therese isn’t inspecting her brother’s mean, she’s having a very naughty affair with a local pastor, Pastor Dylan (Walter Koenig) but he quickly dumps Therese out of guilt. Therese isn’t feeling too well and she goes to see her Doctor, Dr. Suzuki (Linton Semage), he tells Therese that she has a disease of the brain that’s more like a degenerative cancer. Therese freaks out and after doing some investigation she realizes she has Mad Cow Disease from meat that her brother was supposed to throw out. Therese goes crazy and starts killing people because she is easily confused and thinks she’s a Hong Kong Kung Fu Martial Arts Star. Boo.

So, no…I didn’t like this movie at all. It tries way too hard to look edgy. The dialogue stinks. And the main character Therese, although she may be adorable, is not likable. Have you seen a Greg Araki film before? You know, he’s the guy that made “The Doom Generation”? Well its kind like that. It seems that it’s supposed to be really ironic which is why the film quality is poor, but it’s all on purpose. It seems to me the director Gregory Hatanaka used any or maybe all of Araki’s films as a template and then pooped out the bland creation we now call “Mad Cowgirl”…boo. Or should I say…Moooo!

Our First Look Into The Descent: Part 2

Neil Marshall steps aside, but not completely off the film set, for this much anticipated sequel.  The original Descent was directed by Mr. Marshall, and while he’s producing the sequel, the editor of the first installment has given the film a go as director.  Even though this is Jon Harris’s directorial debut, expect much of the same in respects to the brutal carnage, claustrophobic dwellings, and fast paced action.
Sarah finds herself returning …
